RESCUE SPOT is NOT a dog rescue website...to be more precise, Rescue Spot is not just a dog rescue website.
Dog rescue is only a part of the story here.
This is a place that is about dog rescue and so much more.

The name RESCUE SPOT was picked NOT because this website is only a dog rescue website - it was picked because this is more a rescue spot for PEOPLE.
People in need of information, training, and ideas - assisting in expanding everyone's knowledge and awareness of dogs. More specifically the equation of Human + Dog. Rescue Spot was conceived and created as a place to dispel myths and misinformation and replace those harmful things with some facts.
EXAMPLE: It is still widely believed, and still widely circulated, that spaying or neutering a dog will make them fat. FACT: Spaying and neutering do not make dogs fat. Only two things make dogs fat.
1.) Lack of exercise.
2.) Eating too much food, especially the wrong foods.
All scientific research and health studies have proven time and time again spaying and neutering DO NOT make dogs fat - yet people still believe it, and they still spread that myth, and others are quick to latch onto it ,and spread it further. Rescue Spot exists to help bridge the gap between all the myth and misinformation, and provide balanced facts in place of erroneous old wive's tales, or hearsay, or myth. We must one day finally say to ourselves we no longer want the foundation of what we know to be based upon myths and misinformation and we realize what we have been doing in the past - while working in various degrees - can be greatly improved upon. Why not begin in replacing our myths and misinformation about dogs? I can think of no better place, or subject to begin a genuine evolution of thought and practice than in the equation of Human + Dog.
RESCUE SPOT - while devoting a good deal of content to dog rescue is not only a dog rescue site. All one needs to do is click on that navigation selection menu on the left hand side titled;
"From Puppy to Senior"
"Ken's Space"
"News"
"On the book shelf"
"e-books"
"Resources & Helpful Links"
"Health" (where we have a real resident vet offering on-going information, along with many other features in the health section,) to discover that fact.
This is a place about facts. Rescue Spot is also a place for the latest NEWS and information happening between humans and dogs, and we will do everything in our effort to present a balanced approach.
It's long overdue for human beings to begin putting away the old wive's tales, the fiction, the hearsay, the myth and begin to truly evolve our nature. Many of us don't like what goes on in our world yet we do nothing about it, feeling helpless, or that our efforts, our passion or compassion don't amount to much in the whole scope of things. I say baloney to that way of thinking. Individuals have great impact. We always have.

Myth and misinformation do nothing to move us forward, or help us as individuals - those things distract and keep us down as a species, and they frequently do much more harm that good to us as individual people, as a whole race, and to all the things we have, live for, or are involved with in our lives - like dogs to mention one...the main focus of this website.
People + Dogs.
A great equation. Sometimes.
Everyone could use a little refresher course from time to time, and others need to begin their education so that the reality of their life - especially when bringing a dog into it - adds up correctly... for all living things involved in the equation.
RESCUE SPOT is an ALL THINGS DOG & PEOPLE RELATED website.
To label Rescue Spot only a dog rescue website is like catagorizing a library as a place to find only magazines to read, or a restaurant as a place to find only hamburgers. Ridiculous right? Then why catagorize other things in such a manner, anything, when it isn't really true? So is this place, this guy more concerned with dog fighting or dog rescue? What's going on here, you might be thinking...
Everything is connected even if at first that fact is not realized.
Everything.
EXAMPLE: The breed, or breed mix, along with the age of the dog you bring into your life, or your familes life + your honesty about your energy levels, lifestyle, and knowledge of dogs, your patience with animals will result in an equation that leads one of two ways.
1.) You will have brought the right dog for you or your familiy into your lives.
2.) You will only be adding to the dog rescue problem.

I have worked to bring people up to date information about dog rescue, people and dog training, dog behavior, dog health and safety, and discuss the personal relationship between humans and dogs.
I stress how vital it is to become the leader of your pack and provide boundaries and discipline for yourself, and your dog or dogs.
My personal philosophy is that in America, where I reside, we are extremists. We don't admit that we are extermists, we think of ourselves as right in our viewpoints, our actions, our behavior. We think of ourselves as balanced, as healthy - it's always the other person in need of correction or help - never us - but we are extremists. We either smother, coddle, spoil, and baby dogs almost making them more human than ourselves - or we neglect, harm, injure, and severely abuse dogs. Very little sense and balance really exists.
My goal is to show how a well balanced approach to living with and loving dogs is not only best for people...but is the only way to be for the sake of a psychologically balanced, happy, and healthy dog.
No other friendship matches the bond between human and canine. But as with human relationships, sometimes the road to understanding and true happiness is littered with rocks and potholes. Sometimes... he eats your shoes.
You will be happier and less stressed...and your dog will be much happier and much less stressed.
I've included a lot of information here...and there will be weekly additions. I hope you enjoy this place, that it becomes a comfortable place you frequent and you share your experiences, questions, joys, and concerns with all of us here.
Through learning we all can do our part to rescue more dogs...especially before they end up at a rescue organization, or your local shelter. We all can do something positive for the equation of Human + Dog. Begin with yourself and your family. With openness and consideration learn together how to be better stewards, what it truly means to bring a dog into your life and share life with a dog or dogs. Together we can all work together to decrease the problems - such as dog fighting, puppy mills, the absurdities surrounding spaying and neutering, refusal to seek out training...and every problem that exists between Human and Dog. And in so doing we will not only improve our individual lives, and the lives of dogs within our lives, but what we learn and how we evolve and grow will impact everything in an improved fashion. It's all connected, you know...
We can all begin to shed the myths and misinformation we've picked up along the way. We all can begin fresh. We all can learn something new everyday. We all can work to make the place we live better...one person at a time...one dog at a time.
Lead, and your dog will follow.
